Honor does not bend. A will of iron does not break. Victory lies within the ashes.
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . THE SPARKS (Feud Trilogy, #1) . .  . This was a bit different for me. I got to read a book for he YA Fantasy written by an YA. This was a new take on the way that they see things. The level of imagination that was put into the world of Altryon. I found it to be intriguing. The separate, yet powerful families promise to protect the future and the people. Eventually this was to come to some type of impasse and in-fighting. If not for one reason it was for another. This for me was just wat a book one would state. It was the laying of the ground work to set the stage for more to come for Neil and the others. This was a complex read that would require more than one brief look. The depth needs to build and surround your senses.

The Narration of . . . THE SPARKS . . . Jon Eric Preston put a little something extra into the way he narrated this read. I found some comfort in listening to his voice. I found the audio to be clean and of good quality. The narration was solid for the work that was provided.

BLURB
The Vapros, the Taurlum, and the Celerius: three dynasties bound by an ancient promise, and given superhuman abilities to protect the city of Altryon from the dangerous world beyond its walls. The Vapros have the ability to teleport and turn their enemies to ash, the Celerius have super speed and the ability to heal from any wound, the Taurlum have skin like steel and godlike strength. Centuries of petty infighting have turned the families against each other, resulting in a secret war. A powerful emperor now rules over all, as the families have weakened by massive casualties.

Sixteen-year-old Neil Vapros desperately wants to become an assassin, to please his hyper critical father. After failing his first mission, Neil learns that a sinister new force has awakened. This mysterious new power threatens to shatter the established order and threaten the lives of everyone in Altryon - regardless of their family name or allegiance.

MY INTERVIEW WITH KYLE PRUE
How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has never read your work?
With my writing, I like to follow Stephen King’s advice of “leave out the boring bits.” My goal is to always put the reader right into the middle of the action. Every scene should be worthwhile and should follow the fast-paced rhythm of the novel as a whole. If something isn’t needed or slows down the piece as a whole then it needs to be reworked or cut. We should always be learning something new or moving forward with the story.

What are some of your writing/publishing goals for this year?
This year I plan to finish and release the Ashes, release the Audiobook for the Flames, complete editing on a solo YA project and finish up an adult mystery book. I also plan to never sleep again, apparently.

Do you feel that writing is an ingrained process or just something that flows naturally for you?
Writing is a learned thing. No one is an incredible writer starting out and even good writers often have less than perfect first drafts. Writing is about trial and error and editing.

If you could spend one-week with 5 fictional character, who would they be?
I’d love to spend some time with Sherlock Holmes, Tony Stark, Beatrice from Much Ado, Dr. Gregory House, and Rocket Raccoon just to watch them argue for a bit and take notes.

Where would you spend one full year, if you could go ANYwhere? What would you do with this time?
If I had a full year I’d probably try to travel to as many different countries as possible and experience as many different cultures as I could. Good writing comes from life experience and travel is an amazing way to achieve that.

Can you share your next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details?
Unfortunately, most of my creative projects are under wraps, but The Flames is out now and the audiobook should be following this year!  In addition, the summation of the Feud Trilogy, the Ashes, will hopefully be released early next year!
